BRAND IDENTITY FOR A DIGITAL ARTISTS
Survive the competitive art world by building a strong personal brand
I am an illustrator from Pakistan, I love dark-themed fantasy art and everything related to Norse mythology, including '‘ravens’ which is also where I drew inspiration for my company’s name. Did I mention that I am a huge fan of Lord of the Rings? And I also occasionally do ‘voices’ and mimicry, and love making YouTube videos! And all of this is part of my personal brand as an artist.
A strong personal brand identity is essential for any digital artist who wants to be successful. It is what will help you stand out from the competition and attract new clients.
Here are the steps on how to create a brand identity for a digital artist:
Define your target audience: Who are you creating art for? What are their interests? What are their values? Once you know who you are trying to reach, you can start to create a brand identity that appeals to them. Are you a dark fantasy artist? Do you mostly draw portraits? Are you proficient in landscapes? or is your work mostly comprised of sci-fi mechs?
Define your unique selling proposition (USP): What makes your art unique? What sets you apart from other digital artists? Once you know your USP, you can start communicating it through your brand identity. Does your work feel more like traditional oil paintings? Do you use a lot of texture? or is it more clean line art? Is it more exaggerated? stylized? realistic? Find that out!
Choose a brand name: Your brand is the most visible element of your brand identity. It could be your real name or an alias and should be memorable and easy to pronounce. I don’t know why but ‘Jazza’ came to mind! What a great catchy alias for an artist’s name. ‘Slew’, ‘Gawx’, and ‘Ten Hundred’ are some others. So what would be yours?
Develop a tone and voice: Your tone and voice should be consistent with your brand identity. They should be clear, concise, and engaging.
Be consistent: Once you have created your brand identity, it is important to be consistent with it across all of your marketing materials. This will help people easily recognize your brand and remember your art.
It takes time to build a strong brand identity. Don't expect overnight success. Just keep creating great art and promoting your brand, and eventually, you will start to see results.
